Roche Harbor Wedding

San Juan Island, Washington | Roche Harbor Resort

We’re catching up with previous weddings—have you been to Roche Harbor? a protected harbor on the San Juan Island. You can arrive by car and ferry, by boat, and by seaplane. The harbor is beautiful, with 140 acres to roam for sightseeing, hiking, and recreation. We arrived with glorious sunshine in abundance, a relaxed vibe, and the beautiful grounds of the Roche Harbor Resort in bloom. A destination wedding for all to enjoy.

Our bride and groom chose to enjoy their first look with loving family nearby. The first of many sweet kisses that day: a private moment together (as private as it could be with family cheering them on). Smiles were everywhere.

What a gorgeous day—a day meant to be enjoyed! First family portraits, then the bridal party walked down to the dock. A nautical theme for the wedding–navy and white with touches of burlap. A beautiful brooch in the shape of a ship adorned the bride’s bouquet. Guests signed a paddle with their best wishes. In a surprise move, most guests donned clown noses for parts of the ceremony! A garden ceremony outdoors, cocktails on the terrace al fresco, and dinner inside with doors wide open. A family member serenaded a cappella with an operatic flair, a beautiful performance. Toast after toast, laughter, and some spectacular dancing. A meal together, more music, and we strolled down to the dock again, where the flag was lowered in a evening ceremony. The sunset over the harbor blazed in color as the evening continued. Congratulations to our bride and groom! and a huge thank you to the talented Hildebrand Photography who included me as part of the team. A spectacular day.
